Northwest Tandem Rally Rides Again

Tandem lovers from all over the nation are converging upon Bellingham this summer.

The Northwest Tandem Rally festival July 2-6 celebrates all things two wheels, two riders. The five-day festival includes supported bicycle rides and multiple special events and is expected to bring 700-1,000 cyclists to Bellingham over fourth of July weekend.

Since 1986, the festival has been hosted in a different city every year, and this year Bellingham is rolling out the red carpet for bike visitors. Summertime in Bellingham and Whatcom/Skagit counties is spectacular. You’ll be treated to four days of riding with views of the ocean, mountains, forests, lakes, rivers and farms. In your off-the-bike time, plenty of other activities abound including kayaking, whale-watching, dinner cruises, craft breweries, berries fresh off the vine, the Bellingham Festival of Music and much more.

The event is geared toward tandems, but single bikes and their riders are welcome too.

  1. Jeff Johnson says:

My wife and I just purchased our first tandem as a retirement gift to ourselves. We once rode the tandem of our dear friends in Idaho when visiting that state, and we’ve been hooked on the idea ever since! We’re “newbies” but this event looks like we might just finally find “our people.”

  2. Bellingham is already “geared up” for this bike event. The more the merrier. Maybe the tandems will outnumber the half-bikes over July 4th weekend.
