The BIKEmpowered LifeCycling Class gives you detailed frame-of-mind and practical skills to ensure cycling becomes and remains part of your lifestyle. Build your skills in motivation, trip planning, instinctive mechanical and on-road handling skills - in a supportive group setting.
Before the class, I personally coach you to go over your goals and specific hurdles. We do a complete examination of your bike’s fit and comfort for your cycling goals.
The class is presented in four clear, linked stages:
Stage 1: Motivation and CyclingMindset. Worksheet and discussion to become a committed, positive-minded, hazard-aware cyclist from the inside out.
Stage 2: Perfect Trip Planning. Worksheet and discussion using the BIKEmpowered 17-step LifeCycling Planner, which is stuffed with solutions to every hurdle. Route selection, mapping, bike/bus/train options, visibility, bike-to-work/school transitions, time management, cycling with kids/groceries, bail-out plans, parking/locking, etc., etc., etc.
Stage 3: Crash-Free Forever Rodeo. In this stage we integrate CyclingMindset hazard awareness with expert handling skills. You learn: safe starts and stops, cycling predictably, glancing back, intersection scanning, instinctive shifting and braking, one-handed turns, emergency stops and turns, safety on loose surfaces. We also practice “Car Talk” - signaling and calling to drivers that works.
Stage 4: Roadside Repair. You learn the “One-Tool Flat Fix” for no-pinch flat repairs, how to fix chain, gear brake and wheel needs that may happen on your ride. |
