Every year, Cycle Oregon brings riders to cool regions across the state to ride bikes through the gorgeous landscape and support small communities along the way. Riders are on their bikes every day for six days, which can take a toll on the body. But every afternoon when riders roll into camp there’s a tradition most can’t pass up: A fresh recovery smoothie from the smoothie booth.
Riders swear by the healing properties of these yummy smoothies. We sneaked out the recipe to share with our readers.
Makes approximately 3 smoothies
1 cup plain Nancy’s organic yogurt
1 scoop of protein powder
1 whole banana
1.5 cups frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/2-1 cup of ice
Top off the blender with soy milk
Optional: Add a large handful of kale or spinach and be sure to blend extra well.
Blend fully and adjust the consistency to taste with more soy milk as needed. If your smoothie is runnier than you prefer, add a mixture of frozen berries and a little ice.
Serve with a wide straw, kick back, rest your muscles and let the smoothie work it’s magic.
