The Core - 15 miles

The simple route -  Mostly flat, neighborhood bike-ways

Head north from the Lucky Lab to cross the new Blumenauer Bike Bridge and the bike-ways around it. Ride past the Rose Garden then up the gentle northbound slope on the Williams St Bike-Way. Continue past the '5th-quadrant' of NoPo, then turn east, to the neighborhood, and park, of Woodlawn.

Head south, crossing NE Killlingsworth and NE Alberta  to the storybook Alameda Ridge neighborhood. Wind your way through some of Portland's most expensive real estate, ending at the diagonal NE Sandy Blvd. Coast southbound through family neighborhoods like Rose City Park on your way back to the Lucky Lab.

Congratulations, you finished One Big Beautiful Bike Ride! Now it's time to Vote for your Party!

Bike Path Bonanza - 25 miles

Adds10-miles, with some ups and downs, and a rough patch (a couple of miles of unimproved bike path)

The start is the same as The Core, but halfway north, you turn left, into the heart of NoPo, Portland's 5th quadrant Pass through the Star Wars themed "Robot Alley" before riding over I-5. Continue west along the Willamette St Bike-Way to the "Dog Bowl", the cliffs overlooking the Willamette River and downtown Portland. Ride past the University of Portland, famous for its women's soccer program, to the lovely Peninsula Crossing Trail. Turn north, cross N. Lombard and coast down to Columbia Blvd. Cross this thoroughfare carefully to the Columbia Slough Trail.

After a few bucolic turns, cross the Slough's wooden bridge,  and turn east onto the rough stuff. The scenery is gorgeous, the slough on your right, Heron Lakes Golf Courses on your left, followed by Portland International Raceway. Exercise CAUTION - the surface is patchy pavement and can be jarring or even gravel. It lasts about 2 miles.

Ride under I-5 and you're back to smooth sailing. Enjoy the herons, geese, and ducks as you glide eastbound. Turn right at Vancouver Ave, heading due south. A consistent medium climb brings you to Woodlawn, where you'll be reunited with The Core.

The tough stuff is behind you. Enjoy the last 10 miles of Portland's finest, en route to the After-Party.

Congratulations. You rode some of Portland's coolest bikeways, with a rough patch in the middle. Time to Vote for your Party! Go ahead, let your hair down. Dancing is optional.
