Winter Warmers for Rainy Days

After a rainy bike ride, nothing warms you up quite like a warm drink while relaxing on the couch.

Here’s one of our favorites. A little bourbon makes it extra cozy and nice, but this drink is just as tasty without the booze if you prefer a virgin version.

ORbike Toddy

1 packet of Constant Comment Tea (caffeinated or non)
Water brought to just below a boil
1 jigger of bourbon or rye (we like Bulleit Rye or Buffalo Trace)
1/2 tablespoon honey (or less if you prefer)
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon
1 cinnamon stick

Warm a pint glass with hot but not boiling water. If the glass is cold from your cabinet, be sure to warm it slowly. Start with cool water and gradually add more hot water until the entire glass is full of hot water. Keep the glass full until you’re ready to prepare the drink.

Fill the pint glass with the nearly-boiled water one inch from the top.

Steep the tea for four minutes

Add the honey and lemon and stir well.

Add then bourbon or rye and swizzle with a cinnamon stick.

Leave the cinnamon stick in the glass.

If you have a beer cozie/coozie, place it around the pint glass to keep it warm and protect your hands from the hot glass.

This drink can also be prepared by the teapot full if you’ve got company, or if you’re just, you know, really cold.
